The book is an elementary textbook of Chinese characters for beginners, helping the learners to master the ways to know, read and write 1,200 commonly used Chinese characters as well as other 2,000 words composed of these common characters through detailed analysis of the form of the characters and through explanation of both the form and meaning of radicals and common characters. This will lay a solid foundation for further study of Chinese and Chinese words.
A Guide to Chinese Characters (I & II) designs course arrangement and teaching schedule for the beginners on the basis of HSK Standards and Grammar Outline issued by China National Office for Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language. Among all the words collected in the book, 90% are Level A and B Words listed in the Outline. Taking into consideration of character components, parts and new words and phrases coined recently, the book also collects a small quantity of Level C and D Words as well as words not listed in the Outline.
