Description

This book selects modern Chinese poems by poets during 1920s and 1980s, including literary pioneers such as Xu Zhimo and Wen Yiduo, and also those very important ones in China's mainland such as Bai Hua, Gu Cheng, and those in Hong Kong and Taiwan such as Yu Guangzhong, Huang Guobin, Zheng Chouyu, etc. These poets are all highlighted by their representative poems which, in inclusive of almost all poetic schools, reflect thoroughly the progress of Chinese modern poetry over seventy years.


About the translators

Pang Bingjun is Professor of English in the Foreign Languages Department of Nankai University  in Tianjin and also Director of the Nankai Research Centre for Translation.
John Minford is Professsor of Chinese in the Department of Asian Languages of the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
Seán Golden is Director of Studies, School of Interpreters and Translators, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain.
