About the translators
Xie Baikui, born in 1929, in Changsha, Hunan Province; graduated from Beijing University in 1953; professor at the English Section of the Foreign Languages Department, Yunnan University. Published translations include Charles Reade’s The Cloister and the Hearth and Goethe’s Wahlverwandtschaften
Chen Qida is a research professor of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations and concurrently a professor of Beijing Institute of International Relations. He is also an editor-in-chief and translator of an English monthly entitled Contemporary International Relations.
