Jiangnan - Water Country of China
Located in the Taihu Valley crossing Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, Jiangnan is full of charm and has profound culture.IN this DVD, we will take you to Zhujiajiao and Fengjing have a look.
Zhujiajiao is located by the Dianshan Lake in the western suburbs of Shanghai, in the center of Qingpu county, linking Shanghai with Jiangsu and Zhejiang province. With convenient transportation and quiet environment, it is a land flowing with milk and honey, the town boasts beautiful scenery and has many waterways, with row upon row of buildings along the rivers. 36 stone bridges, including Fangsheng Bridge, the five-arched stone bridge built in Ming dynasty, link the nine olf streets together and form graceful scenery.
Fengjing lies at the boundary of Jinshan district of Shanghai and Jiashan, Zhejiang. Typical of towns in the south of China, has a history of more than 1500 years. Fengjing, carefree and leisurely just like other old towns in the south of China, also differs itself from others for its culture. Wandering about through the zigzagging old streets, you can feel the tranquillity and long history of the bridges, rivers, old trees and dried-up wells. You can visit Ding Cong Caricatures Exhibition Hall, the Ancestral Residence of Chen Shifa, the Center of JinShan Peasants Picture Show, and the Former Residence of Gu Shuiru, the national chess champion. All of the four famous people come from Fengjing.
The old streets of Qibao that enjoys increasing fame lies in the town of Qibao in Minhang district. It is another outstanding scenic spot in the metropolis of Shanghai. The old town of Qibao dates from North Song, flourishes in Ming and Qing dynasty, and has always been a place where merchants and intellectuals get together. After refitting the street, the antiquity is regained and the original scene is reproduced - old streets and lames left from North Song, pavilions in Ming and Qing style, bridges and rivers typical of south of China. From the bricks and tiles in the town, you will feel the strong Shanghai-like charm.
