长期以来，外国朋友对汉语学习有一种误解，认为汉语难学。本词典用语义关联模式将汉语词语按照主题进行分类，以大量直观的图片来解释词语，帮助中小学生轻松学习汉语。
本词典以儿童人物“我”为线索，采用大场景或者连续小图的方式生动展现了少儿生活中的70个真实场景，涵盖性高，覆盖面广，涉及少儿生活的方方面面。每个场景包括15到20个词条，全书收集了近1400个词条。词条既注重词频，又注重实用性。词条使用简体汉字，有英语释义，汉字上面注有汉语拼音。拼音采取分字注音的原则，标变调，接近实际口语发音。有的场景将词条直接标在图中实物旁边，词语与实物对应，一目了然，方便学习者理解词义；有的场景则将词条顺序列出，与图中实物数标一一对应，这样有利于学习后的巩固和自测，学习者可以看图中实物试着说出汉语词条。
