City Ladies

The “City Ladies” series of cartoons by Zhu Deyong, has been selling for more than 4 million copies in Taiwan and China, a phenomenal record. In the final chapter, after having fought each other and experienced ups and downs in the urban jungle for years, the four female leads in the book finally attempt to express their thoughts about the future and about themselves. Four women who live in the same single apartment respectively stand for four different love lives. Romance is the only theme in this book, which is the most important work of cartoonist Zhu Deyong. Over the past 13 years he observed various modes of interaction between men and women and made them into comic strips. Out of the vivid personalities of the four characters came a work that to the eyes of many is an Asian version of Sex and the City, in which are assembled romantic comedies that either bring extreme surprise to readers or leave them gobsmacked.

Cartoonist, a native of Jiangsu Province, was born in April 16th, 1950. Graduated from the Department of Cinema Writing and Directing of Shih Shin College of Journalism. Now a full-time professional cartoonist. His published works include the “Double Bang Fireworks” series, the “The Hipsters” series, the “City Ladies” series, “Anything Takes Place”, “Something about office hours”, etc.
